The Stations of the Cross

By 3J Mini Hon

The Catholic Society organised the Stations of the Cross during Lent, which was a meaningful experience for me. As a Catholic school, praying together during Lent is something we do every year, yet each time offers something new to reflect on. As we walked through the different stations, even though there were other schoolmates having sports training or chatting with friends, I found myself remaining more calm and peaceful.

The fourteen stations are placed in different areas of the school campus, each marking a moment from Jesus being condemned, to His three falls, to His crucifixion and burial. I often find myself complaining about small things, like homework, stress, and frustrations. But as I walked and prayed, I realised how small my struggles are and that they cannot be compared to what Jesus endured. More importantly, when I encounter tough times, the suffering can be an offering to God, and it is a moment when I can experience and share in His suffering on the cross.

The silence between each station gave me time to reflect on my own faults and how I should respond to the ups and downs in life. This experience reminded me to embrace challenges with patience and to trust that I am not alone, but rather with God’s mercy.
