UK Study Tour – A Journey of Cultural Exchange, Knowledge, and Camaraderie by 4L Chantel Ou-Yang;
During the Lunar New Year holiday, 38 Shungtakians and 4 teacher chaperones set off on an incredible journey to the United Kingdom. Our transformative adventure kicked off in London, where we explored iconic landmarks such as the Big Ben, London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament. We also visited the Emirates Stadium, the famous British Museum, and various prestigious universities like Cambridge and Oxford. During our city walk, we presented our research on tourist attractions, introducing our schoolmates to the significance of these sites.
Our visits to the IWM Duxford Museum, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the Warner Bros. Studio: The Making of Harry Potter further enriched our journey with knowledge and cherished memories spent with friends. Traveling up to Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick, we were warmly welcomed by our lovely host families. Their warmth made us feel at home in an unknown destination. Furthermore, we attended classes at St Augustine’s Catholic High School, participating in lessons and engaging in after-school activities alongside our British peers. These unique experiences allowed us to learn about local culture and fully immerse ourselves in the British atmosphere. Attending classes with British students fostered meaningful friendships and provided fresh perspectives on subjects we had not previously encountered. We gained practical skills such as time management, effective communication, and adaptability in an unfamiliar environment. Navigating new surroundings, tasting local cuisine, and building lasting friendships allowed us to step out of our comfort zones and expand our horizons. The laughter and joy during the tour will be fondly remembered by all. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this educational experience possible. This tour was a tremendous blend of cultural exchange, knowledge, and camaraderie. We are truly grateful for the memories we have gained along the way, which will forever be imprinted in our hearts.
