On 23 April, we went on an unforgettable S4 History excursion to the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail in Central. Along the trail, we visited various historical sites and learnt about Dr Sun Yat-sen’s early life in Hong Kong, his education, and important events related to his revolutionary journey.
As we listened carefully to our tour guide’s explanations, many of us were surprised and excited to discover that well-known historical events had taken place right in Hong Kong, a city we are so familiar with. Walking through these locations made history feel real and alive, instead of something found only in textbooks.
This meaningful experience helped us better understand our surroundings and appreciate the rich cultural and historical heritage of our city. We are thankful for the opportunity to step out of the classroom and learn through first-hand experiences. Most importantly, we were inspired to realise that Hong Kong’s history is closely connected to our own lives. This excursion reminded us to study history from a wider perspective and encouraged us to keep learning more about our city in the future.
