Conquering Fears: My High Ropes Course Experience 1L Hazel Pang;
This year’s class activity day at the Hong Kong Christian Youth Association Training Center in Ma Wan was unforgettable. As someone with a fear of heights, I felt both anxious and excited about the high ropes course. With the support of my instructors and classmates, I decided to face my fears head-on. I chose the balance beam as my first challenge. Approaching it, my palms were clammy, and my legs trembled. However, I took a deep breath and focused on maintaining my balance, refusing to look down. As I progressed, a sense of exhilaration began to replace my fear. The breathtaking view and my classmates’ cheers spurred me on. Completing the balance beam was a significant milestone. I realized that I was not just overcoming my fear of heights; I was growing in confidence. This experience taught me the value of embracing new challenges and stepping out of my comfort zone. I left the training center with a sense of achievement and excitement for future adventures. Each challenge is an opportunity for growth, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
