Our S5 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) students recently participated in the ‘Python Sparks Workshop’, organised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers President’s Protégés Club (HKIEPPC) and Insquare Foundation Limited.
Held over two days on 11 and 18 April 2026, the workshop aimed to equip students with Python programming skills and insights into career development within the engineering and technology sectors. The event seamlessly blended real-world engineering challenges with hands-on programming, offering students a unique opportunity to explore how engineers leverage technology to solve pressing global issues.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to Dijkstra’s algorithm to tackle a shortest-path optimisation challenge, a concept widely used in transportation, logistics, and smart city planning. This was followed by an intensive problem-solving competition where each team was given two hours to code a solution.
Our students successfully developed their Python program and proudly secured second place among all participating schools. Well done, Shungtakians!
