On 14 December 2025, led by our Visual Arts teacher, Ms Chong, we were honoured to step into the fantastical world of THE MONSTERS at the Asia Society Hong Kong Centre. We were thrilled to participate in an engaging artist talk with Kasing Lung, the beloved creator of the iconic character Labubu. The venue was vibrantly decorated with Labubu-themed installations, creating a magical atmosphere that perfectly captured the spirit of the event.
Before the meeting began, each participant received a special sketchbook commemorating the tenth anniversary of Labubu. Filled with a delightful collection of sketches featuring various characters from the Labubu family, the book showcased Kasing Lung’s boundless creativity and his dedication to developing these whimsical figures over the years. Reading through it clearly illustrated that Labubu is far more than a commercial character designed for profit; rather, it reflects Kasing Lung’s unique vision of a magical world, as seen in his creation of a diverse family of endearing fictional characters.
During the artist talk, Kasing Lung kindly signed the covers of our sketchbooks and warmly engaged with attendees. His passion and generosity were truly inspiring. To express our gratitude for his sharing of his artistic journey, we presented him with a special drawing. The piece featured the iconic Labubu dressed in the Shung Tak school uniform, accompanied by a seal print displaying ‘崇藝’ and ‘美德’. Together, these elements symbolised the harmonious fusion of our school’s artistic values with the enchanting world of Labubu.
This memorable experience not only left a lasting impression but also inspired us to continue spreading positivity through art and creativity. Kasing Lung’s dedication and passion serve as a powerful example, encouraging us to cultivate our own unique artistic identities.
