On 7th March 2025, twenty Shungtakians had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Mental Health Fun Day, organized by the Education Bureau at Hong Kong Ocean Park.
This engaging event aimed to highlight the significance of “Rest,” “Relaxation,” “Relationships,” and “Resilience.”
Two participants, 4L Coco Lee and 4J Gabrielle Wong shared their experiences and insights from the activity:
4L Coco:
We were divided into groups of ten to complete various exciting missions as part of a stamp collection activity. We explored the entire park and completed tasks such as guessing objects using different senses, engaging in a fun matching game, and striking unique team poses. We collected eight stamps to exchange for gifts. The stamps were located in animal exhibitions, including places with real animals, such as the Grand Aquarium and the Marine Mammal Breeding and Research Centre.
This experience allowed us to hone our skills in teamwork and time management while learning about the conservation efforts undertaken by the park. Most importantly, we learned how we can help protect these animals as students and citizens. Thanks to the program, I discovered interesting locations that are often overlooked. Instead of focusing solely on the roller coasters, I spent more time exploring hidden places I had never considered visiting before, such as Shark Mystique and Pacific Pier. Now, I regret not being curious enough earlier, but I’m glad I joined this trip!
In addition to becoming an Ocean Park expert, I discovered my passion for animals and nature. Since most of the locations we visited were related to animals, I found myself captivated by the descriptions of different breeds and the movements of real animals. Nature nurtures wonderful beings, and we should all do our part to protect them!
4J Gabrielle:
This event was not only memorable but also incredibly rewarding. It provided us with a chance to unwind and alleviate academic stress while having fun with friends. Connecting with the peaceful presence of the animals helped us build emotional connections and reduce our stress levels. The next time you find yourself feeling bored, consider putting your phone down and engaging in outdoor activities with friends. These experiences can effectively stimulate positive emotions and strengthen the bonds we share with those around us. Let’s continue to prioritize our mental well-being and support each other on this journey!
