On 4 May 2026, our marching band took part in the Youth Flag Raising Ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square in Hong Kong. As a trumpeter, I had the honour of standing in the front row, centre position. Around 1,200 young people participated in the event. Our band played ‘歌唱祖國’ during the march-in and ‘分列式進行曲’ during the march-out.
When the national anthem began and the flag started rising, my heart beat fast. I felt both nervous and immensely proud. Standing in the very centre of the front row was a great honour. From rehearsals to the actual performance, every member of our team was serious, supportive, and united. This experience taught me responsibility, teamwork, and respect for our country.
It was more than just a performance, it was a meaningful lesson in patriotism. I will always remember the sunshine, the flag, and the sense of honour I felt that morning. Being part of this team is something I will never forget.
