Monday, 14 September 2026Our school recently had the privilege of hosting a National Education Talk by Professor Herman Hu, representative from the Hong Kong Delegate to the National People’s Congress, titled “Innovation Development and Achievements in China’s Science and Technology Sector.” Addressing our students and staff, Professor Hu illuminated China’s remarkable transformation from a state of technological poverty to advanced global leadership, emphasising that innovation is the primary driving force behind national progress and security.
The presentation highlighted major technological milestones, including the historic Chang’e-6 mission achieving humanity’s first lunar far-side sample return, as well as world-leading infrastructure such as extensive 5G base station deployment. Professor Hu explained how these scientific breakthroughs reinforce national resilience, self-reliance, and technological security, serving as a foundation for national development.
Focusing on Hong Kong’s strategic position, Professor Hu emphasised how the city leverages its strong university research base, international talent, and close cross-border collaboration with Shenzhen within the Greater Bay Area. This unique synergy supports Hong Kong’s evolution into an international innovation and technology hub under “One Country, Two Systems.”
As an integral part of our school’s National Security and Values Education, this session inspired students to appreciate the nation’s achievements and understand their vital role in safeguarding national progress. The event concluded with an encouraging call for youth to cultivate scientific curiosity and actively contribute to the future development of both Hong Kong and the country.
