Wednesday, 2 September 2026Denotate, our school’s acappella team, participated as the only performance team in the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Volunteer Team Launch Ceremony. The ceremony was held on 28 June 2026 at St. James’ Settlement in Wan Chai.
This was the first time we were going to perform in an official public show and that made it a really special experience for us. Though we were nervous about it, we did our best working as a team. Even when we felt anxious before going on stage, we cheered each other up. Fortunately, we were able to stay relaxed and enjoy the performance sincerely.
For this performance, we performed two songs: “What Makes You Beautiful” and “追光者”. The first song conveys the message that true beauty comes from natural authenticity, encouraging people to be confident in who they are. The second song, “追光者”, expresses the idea that even when the world seems dim, we should continue to believe and hold on to hope, as our voices should never fade away even in difficult times.
During the performance, the audience waved their phone flashlights to support us. When we finished, the audience burst into warm applause, which really boosted our confidence. Ultimately, we not only gained stage experience, but also got a glimpse of how official ceremonies usually go.
We believe that this experience was meaningful to us performers, the audience, and the organisers alike. For us, it strengthened our confidence and teamwork. For the audience, we hope our performance brought enjoyment. For the organisers, our participation added energy and engagement to the ceremony.
We would like to thank the HKICPA for this opportunity, our teachers, and our school’s social worker for their help. It was a great experience for us and will encourage us to develop our music skills further.
