After months of intensive training and high-stakes matches, we finally completed our final round of the year on 25 April. Through consistent hard work and unwavering dedication, our team is honoured to have secured fourth place overall in the Mock Trial SideBySide competition. As this is a territory-wide competition in Hong Kong, competing against some of the most talented teams across the region made this achievement even more meaningful.
Our Journey to the Bench
This year was a true marathon; we participated in three official competition rounds and two friendly matches. Every team member poured their time and energy into the process. We spent countless hours after school practising role-plays, analysing complex case details, and debating legal strategies. Through this shared grind, we did more than just learn the law, we bonded. What began as a group of students ended as a passionate, united team.
Gratitude for Our Mentors
The doors of the High Court witnessed both our victories and our tears, but we did not get there alone. We owe our deepest gratitude to our legal coach, Mr Frankie Wong. Despite his busy professional schedule, he provided us with expert guidance and endless encouragement. We will never forget how patiently he mentored us, accompanying us through every practice and nerve-wracking competition.
We also want to thank our teachers, Mr Kwan, Mr Wu, and Ms Ho, for their tireless support in arranging our training sessions and friendly matches. Finally, thank you to the school for giving us the incredible opportunity to step into the shoes of legal professionals.
Lessons Beyond the Verdict
Looking back on this fruitful journey, we have gained much more than a trophy. We have learnt the value of responsibility, gratitude, and confidence, while sharpening our critical thinking skills. The path was challenging, but it was always filled with laughter.
While this year’s competition has come to an end, the lessons and memories remain. Following our school motto, ‘Ora et Labora’, we will continue to move forward with passion and perseverance, ready to take on whatever challenges the future holds.
