On 28 August, our student leaders hosted the S1 Orientation Day, a vibrant welcome event designed to help our new Form 1 students bond with one another, familiarise themselves with the Students’ Union and the four Houses, and explore our campus for the very first time.
While the initial rehearsals had been rather chaotic, seeing the event finally come to life filled my heart with a mix of nervous excitement and immense pride. Weeks of meticulous planning and relentless hard work culminated in this beautiful moment.
Earlier that morning, I admittedly felt quite stressed, anxious about whether everything would run smoothly. However, those worries instantly vanished as I watched our Students’ Union, House Captains, and Guidelights guide the S1 students with exceptional patience. Seeing the bright smiles on the freshmen’s faces, and realising we had successfully created a warm, welcoming second home for them, made every single late night entirely worth it.
Serving as the Chairperson has been a profoundly transformative experience, teaching me invaluable lessons about leadership and accountability. I have truly learned what it means to remain organised and communicate effectively under pressure, support my team through unexpected hurdles, and carry the responsibility of ensuring a safe, seamless, and memorable event for everyone.
