Wednesday, 11 December 2024Breaking Records: Celebrating Our Students’ Triumphs
Our school’s Scouts and Venture group, 5th Yuen Long West Group’s Footdrill Team, comprising current students and alumni; and three flag-raising teams, joined the Scouting for Harmony & Integration: New Territories Region Footdrill and Flag-raising Competition on 15th September in Yuen Long’s On Hing Playground.
Our Footdrill Team, with their outstanding performance was declared the Champion, and our Flag-Raising Team C, also did a remarkably great job and took the 1st runner-up position. Two Flag-Raising teams and the Footdrill Team also participated in the 2024 Hong Kong Scout Rally Flag-raising Competition on 13th October at Hong Kong Scout Centre, and the Footdrill Competition on 20th October in Sha Tin Yuen Wo Playground. Through unremitting efforts in practising, Flag-raising Team A placed second out of 18 teams. And more news: our Footdrill Team has won the Group’s first ever ‘Champion’ in the Scout Rally Footdrill Competition out of 21 teams.
A huge congratulations to the teams. The remarkable results means that the Teams qualified to represent the New Territories Region in the Hong Kong Scout Rally 2024 on 27th October. Trophies, medals, and the Chairman’s Shield for the Footdrill competition were presented at the Hong Kong Scout Centre. The prizes were certainly an acknowledgement of our school’s Scouts troop which holds troop meetings regularly. Formed by Patrols with Scout Leaders and Patrol Leaders, the troop plans and organises activities for the troop meetings. Belonging to this group is a chance for members to challenge themselves, learn scouting and survival skills, experience group life, strengthen physique, build self-confidence and perseverance, develop leadership skills, and practise what they have learnt through traditional scouting activities such as marching, pioneering, hiking, and camping.
