The EFAD Committee has been devoted to bringing special experiences to students in order to foster their initiative and interest in speaking English. This year, we have raised the excitement to new heights by featuring a grand lucky draw in front of the entire school.
Throughout the year, our junior form students worked hard to collect chops through various EFAD activities, as well as by chatting with English ambassadors and teachers in English. This dedication allowed them to qualify for bronze, silver, and gold prizes, which were awarded once they had attained the required number of chops.
The grand lucky draw took place during the morning assembly on the playground. Our Principal, Ms Lai, drew names from the boxes and announced them immediately. As usual, our Shungtakian students filled the playground with explosive enthusiasm and applause. The lucky students whose names were called were invited to make their way to the stage straight away to receive their grand prizes: cash coupons for the school’s tuckshop (bronze), a stuffed soft toy (silver), and free tickets to an adventure day of their choice, including an extra ticket for a friend (gold).
At the end of the day, this special ceremony, organised by the English for All Day Committee allowed our students not only to compete for some amazing prizes but also to demonstrate that the English learning environment at STC is strong and something we take pride in creating. Mastering English is no easy feat, but our students are rewarded when they show exceptional dedication to improving their English language skills. With the support of EFAD, we can certainly look forward to seeing more active English learners at STC.
