A Triumph on the International Stage

2P Ava Lam

On 14 July, I embarked on a journey that would become one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Alongside my teammates, I represented Hong Kong at an international competition held in Sydney, Australia, from 14 to 22 July. We returned home with remarkable achievements and memories to last a lifetime.

I competed in three events: aesthetic group gymnastics, the ball routine, and the freehand routine. Through dedication and countless hours of training, my teammates and I won the championship title in the aesthetic group gymnastics event. In the individual categories, my performances earned me the second runner-up position in both the ball and freehand routines, an impressive feat I never expected to achieve.

Reflecting on the experience, the competition was about more than just winning medals. I really enjoyed the opportunity to compete against the top teams across Asia. I believe we pushed each other to improve both on and off the carpet. For me personally, the honour of carrying Hong Kong’s spirit across the ocean to Australia was a privilege I will always treasure.

Ultimately, I focused on my determination, teamwork, and passion, and this eventually led to these extraordinary achievements. I was not only happy to make my city proud but also my school, and I am happy to share my accomplishments.

I hope to inspire other students in believing anything is possible when we pursue our dreams with unwavering commitment.
