A BOOK IN NEED
Christmas is coming. Have you planned your holiday yet? Will you have a great Christmas dining? Or go to Tsim Sha Tsui to watch colourful Christmas lightings?
It's true that we should take a rest after a period of study. However, we have to consider that our time should not be spent entirely in play. We attend school in order to get some knowledge which will be useful in our life. But knowledge can only be obtained through constant drilling. During the holidays we should not neglect to review the lessons we have done. It is true that all work and no play make you a dull fellow. Though there may be other ways to spend the Christmas, for me reading seems to be the best of all.
Books, reference materials and information are human's treasure of spiritual wealth. Books are our good friends. Not only do they widen our knowledge, but they can also give us a lot of pleasure and sincerely advise us how to get along in the world. And when we come across difficulties, we often turn to them for help. Good books in need are good friends indeed.
However, not all books are worth reading. Some books are too simple or too difficult; others are not of our interest. Some books may provide us some improper ideas, or are poorly written.
So, it's important to choose the right books and make wise use of books. As time limits us to read only a very small number of the millions of books in the world, we have to choose carefully only those that suit us best. We should read in different ways. Some books are to be run over rather quickly or partly read; others should be studied in detail and even consulted from time to time. Moreover, we must try to apply to practice what we learn from books.
Now, take some time to explore your interest and read more to enrich yourselves in certain aspects. You also need to read those excellent pieces though you may not be interested in them in order to gain a variety of knowledge.
Be puncture! Time never stops for anyone for any reasons. You may have many Christmases, but you may not have many "golden chances". Now is the best learning time for you all. Thank you.
