Good morning Principal, teachers and fellow Shungtakians.
Today is the eighth of September and we are celebrating the Teacher's Day. As the Chairperson of the Students Union, I would like to share something with you. Let's start with a simple calculation. Say every day we wake up at 7. Then we go to school at 8. Afterwards we leave school at around 4. If we stay at home for the rest of the day and sleep at 11, we will totally spend 8 hours in school and 8 hours at home when we are awake. See, considering the time we spend in these two places, school can probably be our second home. At school, besides our fellow schoolmates, who are closest to us? The answer is clear, our teachers.

Our teachers have been teaching us diligently since we entered Shung Tak. Our teachers have been giving us a lot of supports as we are growing up. Our teachers have been paying lots of effort for our growth. We should definitely be thankful to them. Some of you may think it's a cliché. Yes, it is. We all know this, but hardly remember this. We will probably forget this when we are scolded by them. We will rather not remember this when we are given lots of homework or tests. However I believe that we all know that our teachers do these only because they want us to be better. Therefore we should always keep in mind, we should be thankful to our teachers.

Today we celebrate the Teacher's Day. In Chinese we call it "Respect Teachers Day". I believe that we all know what respect is. But as a secondary school student, I suppose we can do more. Besides respecting teachers, we can show our care as well. Give less trouble to teachers. Try to let teachers know more about you and know more about your teachers by chatting with them more often. Invite your class teachers to join class activities etc. Remember that school is like our second home, and teachers are like our family members. Therefore respect alone is not enough. We can do more to make school a more harmonious place. Thank you.
